keep cozy in Ethically Sourced & Produced knitwear

LAND+OBJECT knitwear is made from ethically sourced and produced fibers from the Mongolian steppes. The same animals that many traditional Nomadic herders rely on for transportation, wool, and milk.

Mongolia is a country well-known for luxury cashmere. The lesser-known traditions of camel and yak herding are, after millennia, a perfected practice and symbiotic relationship between people, animals, and land.

oUR MISSION

Promote peace, balance, harmony, and beauty through the creation of unique Objects that honor people, culture, and land.

Meet the Founder

My name is Sheyenne Sky and I am a Diné entrepreneur living in Santa Fe, New Mexico on Tewa lands. I lived in Mongolia off and on for a total of five years from 2010 to 2020. While living in the capital city of Ulaanbaatar as a high school student, I first started to develop the concept of a global identity. I recognized many cultural similarities as well as systemic issues that my Diné community back home shared with the Mongolian people.

I started this business as a final project in a financial modeling class at Harvard in 2020. Affordability, sustainability, ethical sourcing, and indigenous-led manufacturing were central to the development of my idea from the beginning. The following year was spent nurturing the concept of what would eventually become LAND+OBJECT…

The 4 pillars of Ethical Fashion

  • Ethical Sourcing

Acquiring materials for production in a way that minimizes the exploitation of the planet and its inhabitants.

  • Small-Scale Production

Small-batch artisanal production, indigenous crafting methods, and made-to-order services that ensure minimum waste.

  • Fair Wages

A fair wage supports the cost of food, housing, education, child care and other essential needs such as clothing.

  • Craftsmanship

Supporting indigenous artisans in both developing and preserving craftsmanship skills, techniques and knowledge.
